Please review the program guidelines below. Note that these guidelines have changed effective February 1, 2010.

If you are interested in a Hiring Incentive Training Grant, you may choose to pre-register for the program or complete a full application. Through pre-registration, a Division of Career Services (DCS) WorkForce Training Fund (WTF) Representative will contact you to discuss your eligibility for the program and answer any questions you may have. Hiring Incentive Training Grant Program Guidelines
1) The company must pay into the Workforce Training Fund to be eligible for the Hiring Incentive Training Grant award.
2) The company must be up-to-date with unemployment insurance tax payments.
3) The company must be in good standing1 with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. If the application is approved, you must provide a valid Massachusetts Department of Revenue Certificate of Good Standing with the contract packet. It is highly recommended that you request the Certificate of Good Standing now, making it available upon application approval.  For the purposes of the Workforce Training Fund, the Certificate of Good Standing is only valid for 6 months.   Sample of certificate
4) The company must submit a Pre-Screening Notice and Certification Request  for each New Hire Trainee in the application indicating that the trainee has been unemployed at least 6 months.
Veteran's Preference - The 6 month unemployment requirement will be waived for qualified veterans. DD214 must be provided as proof of veteran status.
5) No new hire trainee can own half or more of the company and if the company is a corporation, no trainee may be an officer in the corporation.
6) The maximum amount of a grant to be awarded to an employer during a single grant year can be no greater than $30,000.
7) The cost per new hire trainee paid with grant funds will be a flat rate of $2,000.
8) All new hire trainees must be Massachusetts residents.
9) All new hire trainees must have been hired in the last 30 days since the date of the application or will be hired in the next 30 days of submitting an application.
10) All new hire trainees must be paid their regular wage while in training.
11) All training must start within 6 months of the grant award.
12) Training must be completed within 12 months.
13) All training provided must relate to the trainee's job function.
