Residential Supervisor

Job Description: This is a direct care, supervisory position, responsible for a variety of duties relating to and primarily concerned with implementing the student's treatment and educational programs, in the evening classrooms and at the residential homes. These direct care individuals provide the supervisory staff coverage necessary for the maintenance of the residential program. The position affords a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience with and knowledge of the current methods for treating the problems of autistic-like children and young adults and young adults with behavioral disorders. This position reports to the Case Managers, Monitors/QC, and day/evening program supervisors. It is an hourly non-exempt full time position. Hours of work are varied in a Friday through Thursday workweek and will involve working one weekend night each week. Every effort is made to give Residential Supervisors one weekend day off every week; shifts will be assigned to provide holiday coverage. In the event of short staffing, the schedule can be comprised of any day or shift necessary to assure adequate staffing, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Educational/Work History Requirements:
*Bachelor degree in Psychology/Education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*One-year experience in an educational/residential program for behaviorally disordered individuals.
*Stamina and physical endurance for a physically demanding schedule.
*Candidates should possess excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
*Must be able to function with moderate supervision.

*Excellent interpersonal /communication skills.
*Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
*Exhibit the ability to react to student anger in a calm, detached, assertive manner.
*Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor.
*Exhibit respect for the confidentiality and dignity of our students.

Physical Demands of Position:
*Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English.
*20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 with corrective lenses.
*Ability to stand and walk for at least 80% of the workday.
*Ability to sit for at least 20% of the workday.
*Position involves kneeling, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, crawling, and handling during the treatment process.
*Ability to lift up to 200 lbs., with assistance.
*Valid driver's license.
*Travel to residences/medical appointments is required.
*Normal depth perception is required.
